What Wheatleigh Dunham said about us:
"Choosing Fairfield County House for our loved one’s hospice care was the best decision we made during an incredibly difficult time. The level of compassion, kindness, and genuine human care shown by every member of the staff was truly extraordinary.
From the moment our mother arrived, we noticed an immediate and dramatic improvement in the quality of care compared with her time in an excellent local hospital that also provided excellent (general impatient hospice or “GIP” care), however, while well-intentioned, simply was not staffed, equipped or designed for end-of-life care in the same way. At Fairfield County House, residents and families are treated with deep respect, dignity, and warmth. The staff consistently go out of their way to ensure everyone feels comfortable, secure, and truly at home.
The facility itself is beautiful and peaceful. It looks and feels like a private residence rather than a cold or busy medical institution. It is impeccably clean, quiet, and calming. It is a newer space thoughtfully designed specifically for hospice care. Each resident has a large private room with a garden views, lots of natural light and a spacious bathroom, creating a sense of privacy and serenity. There is also a welcoming, well-appointed kitchen where family members and staff can prepare or bring foods tailored to a patient’s individual needs—something that made a meaningful difference compared to a hospital setting.
What touched us most was how sincerely the staff cared for our mother—not as a patient, but as a person, and truly as one of their own respecting her culture and language which was no barrier to her care. This was not performative kindness; it was real, heartfelt dedication to their calling. One moment (among many) we will never forget was when a nurse, a busy mother who lives some distance away, came in on her day off simply to visit her because they had formed a close bond. That gesture speaks volumes about the people who work here.
We cannot say enough positive things about Fairfield County House and the entire team. They will forever have our deepest gratitude. If you are seeking hospice care for a loved one, look no further."
